Not with a bang. . .

but who cares, we'll take it.  Apparently, Florida has announced that the State will not be appealing the appeals court decision that overturned Florida's ban on gay and lesbian adoption.  Which effectively means the court's decision is final, and the ban is no more.

Not as dramatic as decisions allowing same-sex marriage or halting DADT, perhaps, but satisfying.  I found the Florida ban aggravating in its sheer stupidity, and I'm glad it's gone.

I guess the state of Florida realized that keeping kids in need out of loving homes willing to take them was a really stupid thing to do. Score one for sanity. :D

Apparently sanity did have its day, for which I am duly grateful. Surprised, but grateful. The Florida adoption ban drove me crazy for years. "Wait - we have kids who desperately need homes and loving families, we have families volunteering to give them those homes and love, and you won't let them because you don't like their orientation? What's WRONG with you?"

And now it's gone, and I am happy.
